Unpublished scores

The pieces of music presented on this page are for the major part available from the composer (see page references, section contact) who will be happy to send the score in most cases, if it is available, (while maintaining the right to refuse). Scores thus obtained are however subjected to the same copyright laws as published works and can under no circumstances become the object of a commercial product. The composers also maintain the right to cease the distribution of these scores in the case of publication. I must underline the fact that the extracts presented here on this page and more generally the extracts of non-published works are mostly longer than published scores (for a question of copyright).

Contemplations
(piano)

Resonances

Written in 2005 by Carole M.de Ch., there are seven of them : Serment (Oath), Miroirs (Mirrors), Vagues (Waves), Couleurs (Colors), Gouttes lumineuses (Luminous drops), Résonnances (Resonances) and Dialogue (Dialogue). These quieter pieces, full of emotion, tell us that even if the contemplation presents a feeling of serenity, it can also have vitality and verticality.

Fantaisie gracieuse
(piano)

Gracious fantasy

This piece was written by Carole M.de Ch. in the early 80s, during an Italian entrance exam of "pages of an album" (where each piece is on two pages). In C flat, in a rhythm of two beats, it evokes a young girl preparing to go out for the evening (see also auto-portrait). Lightheartedness and dance step with a change of mood are the keywords.

Images poétiques
(piano)

East wind waltz

Pieces written by Carole M.de Ch. in the 80s they show the author’s almost magnetic attraction for nature. Beginning with the small world of insects, buzzing and fluttering here and there (first piece : Bumblebees and butterflies), passing by the world of humans where a little girl in a field of chicory and poppies is put to music (second piece : Oriane with flowers), to finish with a dance of the winds, full of Slav vibrancy (third piece : East wind waltz)

Falaises sauvages
(piano)

Wild cliffs

This long six minute prelude by Carole M.de Ch. makes us travel in B flat (which was for a long time the author’s favourite key) through a country of winds, of flowered clifftops and rocks, beaten by the waves. Some passages of cords alternate with long lines of left-handed arppegios.

Sirius
(piano)

Sirius

Here is another (eight minute) long prelude written by Carole M. de Ch. The twinkling and multicoloured star is in fact a double sun which is often visible from our latitudes. This piece in several independant parts, virtuoso and rich, reflects the author’s attraction for the mysteries of the heavens.

Musique pour Basilic
(piano)

Musique pour Basilic

This piece of 5’45 minutes composed by Olivier M.de Ch. in 1984 was commissioned by a famous puppeteer. It evokes a famous oriental character, named Basilic, brought to life with its strings. After an entrance march, he graciously blows soap bubbles, taking us away to his dream and then back to a march step and into the distance...

Ascension
(two organs)

Ascension 2nd movement

[see thematic trail]

Ascension was composed by Carole M.de Ch. in 2007. The formation for two organs is a particularly original piece of music. Impressionist work of about a quarter of an hour, it consists in three movements and nine periods corresponding to the following indications : contemplation, deep source, passion, spiritualisation, nostalgia, glow, renewal, serenity and accomplishment. The first movement is long and varied, the second short and slow, the third rich in notes leading towards the final culmination.

Vocalise en clair-obscur
(2 violons-alto-2violoncelles ou 5 voix)

Vocalise

Vocalise en clair-obscur exists in two forms. The original form is that of a soprano, mezzo, alto, tenor and bass, and involves the lyrics and a play of sound on the vowels, all written by the author. Carole M. de Ch. then replaced the voices with the cords. On a plain background, an engaging melody appears and develops at length then another theme is treated as a game with the voices, before coming back to the original theme. The instrumental level required is not very high.

Esquisse en bleu et vert
(string orchestra : 5 violins, 2 violas, 3 cellos, 2 doublebasses minimum)

Esquisse en bleu et vert

A sort of seranade for cords written in 2009, this piece of about 40 pages for an orchestra, in one movement, presents two principle themes : the first, which is very simple, is built on interesting and romantic arppegios with viola and cello, the second is more structured and more symphonic. Then both themes are cleverly brough together to make but one. This piece by Carole M.de Ch., which could become excellent film music is of fairly low instrumental level.
